Notes
-
Make-Ahead Friendly: You can prepare the mixture up to 48 hours in advance. Store covered in the fridge, then shape and bake when ready.
-
Freezer Tip: Freeze raw or baked sausage balls in a single layer. Reheat directly from frozen in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10–12 minutes.
-
Customize the Heat: Use Hot Rotel or add diced jalapeños for extra spice. Prefer it mild? Use Mild Rotel or fire-roasted tomatoes without chilies.
-
Make it Gluten-Free: Swap Bisquick for a gluten-free baking mix. Add 1 egg for better binding if needed.
-
Keto/Low-Carb Option: Replace biscuit mix with almond flour and a pinch of baking powder. The texture will be slightly denser but still delicious.
-
Serving Suggestion: Serve warm with queso, ranch, or spicy mustard for dipping. Great for game days, brunch spreads, and potlucks.
