Description

Zesty, buttery, and addictively savory—this dill pickle popcorn is the ultimate quick snack that delivers bold flavor in every bite!

Ingredients

For the Dill Seasoning:
• 2 tsp dried dill weed (or 1½ tbsp fresh dill)
• 1 tsp garlic powder
• 1 tsp fine sea salt (plus more to taste)
• Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

For the Popcorn:
• 3 tbsp oil (refined coconut oil preferred)
• ½ cup popcorn kernels
• 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
• 1 tbsp dill pickle juice

Instructions

1️⃣ Mix the Seasoning:
• In a small bowl, combine dill, garlic powder, sea salt, and black pepper. Set aside.

2️⃣ Heat the Oil:
• In a large stockpot or Dutch oven, add oil and 3 popcorn kernels.
• Cover and heat over high until kernels pop (test for oil readiness).

3️⃣ Pop the Corn:
• Add the remaining popcorn kernels to the hot oil.
• Cover, remove from heat, and swirl the pan gently for 20 seconds.
• Return to heat and allow all kernels to pop.

4️⃣ Vent & Shake:
• Once popping is steady, crack the lid slightly to release steam.
• Shake the pot occasionally for even popping.
• When popping slows or stops, remove from heat and pour into a large bowl.

5️⃣ Butter & Season:
• Mix melted butter with pickle juice.
• Pour over hot popcorn and toss well.
• Sprinkle dill seasoning evenly and toss to coat.

Notes

  • Pickle Juice Swap: If you don’t have dill pickle juice on hand, use a splash of apple cider vinegar or white vinegar for a similar tangy kick.

  • Extra Seasoning Boost: Add a pinch of onion powder, ground mustard, or smoked paprika to elevate the flavor.

  • Spice it Up: For heat lovers, try red pepper flakes or a dash of cayenne pepper in the seasoning mix.

  • Butter-Free Option: Use olive oil or avocado oil instead of butter for a dairy-free variation.

  • Storage Tip: Keep leftover popcorn in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Re-crisp in the oven at 250°F for 5 minutes if needed.

  • Season While Warm: Make sure to toss the seasoning on while the popcorn is still warm so it sticks evenly and thoroughly.
