  • Author: Joriel
  • Total Time: 2 hours ( 1–2 hours (not "cook" but accounted separately))
  • Yield: 12 servings
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

This festive no-bake treat is as fun to make as it is to eat! Swirled with red, white, and blue candy melts and topped with Oreos, M&Ms, and patriotic sprinkles, this bark is the ultimate 4th of July or Memorial Day snack. Kids and adults alike will love the crunchy, creamy combo perfect for parties, gifts, or easy dessert platters!

Ingredients

  • 16 oz bright white candy melts (or white chocolate)
    • 6 oz royal blue candy melts
    • 6 oz red candy melts
    • 1/2 cup red, white & blue M&M’s
    • 6–8 Oreo cookies, crushed into bite-sized pieces
    • 2 tbsp red, white & blue star sprinkles
    • 2 tbsp patriotic jimmies

Instructions

1️⃣ Prep the Pan:
Line an 11×15″ jelly roll pan (or 9×13″ pan) with foil. Lightly spray with cooking spray.

2️⃣ Crush the Cookies:
Place Oreos in a zip-top bag and gently hit with a rolling pin until coarsely crushed. Set aside.

3️⃣ Melt the White Base:
In a double boiler or microwave, melt white candy melts until smooth and fully melted. Spread evenly in the prepared pan.

4️⃣ Melt and Swirl Colors:
Microwave red and blue candy melts in separate bowls (70% power in 30-second intervals) until melted.
Drizzle them over the white base in alternating stripes or random patterns.

5️⃣ Create the Swirl Effect:
Use a skewer or butter knife to swirl the colors gently in figure-eight motions.

6️⃣ Add Toppings:
Sprinkle the top with crushed Oreos, M&M’s, and all sprinkles while the bark is still melted.

7️⃣ Chill & Set:
Refrigerate for 1–2 hours or until completely firm.

8️⃣ Break & Serve:
Lift the foil, peel it off, and break the bark into irregular pieces.

Notes

  • Melting Tips: Use low microwave power (70%) and stir every 30 seconds to prevent burning. A double boiler is ideal for smoother results.

  • Swirling Technique: For clean patriotic swirls, use a skewer or toothpick and make gentle figure-eight motions. Don’t over-mix or colors may blend too much.

  • Toppings Tip: Add M&M’s, Oreos, and sprinkles while the bark is still warm so they stick. Press gently to secure them before chilling.

  • Storage Advice: Store bark in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. For longer storage, refrigerate or freeze with parchment between layers.

  • Make Ahead: This is a great make-ahead dessert for parties. You can prep it up to 3 days in advance and keep chilled until ready to serve.

  • Allergy-Friendly Option: For gluten-free or vegan diets, substitute traditional Oreos and candy melts with certified gluten-free and dairy-free versions.

  • Flavor Variations: Try adding chopped nuts, crushed pretzels, or mini marshmallows for different textures. You can even swirl in peanut butter or mint-flavored melts.

  • Holiday Swap: While designed for patriotic events, you can adjust the colors and toppings for other holidays—think orange and black for Halloween or red and green for Christmas.
